Minimal pocket sized only approx. 14 cm long and weighs 42gms, with popular combination 30mm x 75mm replaceable diamond stones 1200/3000 grit for sharp edges.

10 degrees is generally the most acute angle to use. More acute angle does not leave enough steel behind the edge for support to prevent edge chips or rolling.

The angle of the blade from spine to edge is 4 degrees approx for the Mercator, Pioneer and Skoner and most other blades. So the handle sharpening angle is 10 + 4 = 14 degrees per side. You can use the handle 10 degrees as a guide and add more angle from this reference point.

This is the more accurate method using only one blade angle shift and can eyeball the angle of blade and handle gap vs the old way of angle the blade at 45 then halving that to get 12.5 degrees the adjust that to preferred angle.

Lay the flat of blade onto the 10 degree angle surface of the handle and sharpen the edge while maintaining the same angle.

Replaceable diamond stones approx. 75mm x 30mm adhered to the handle body by a special tape that will not detach after washing, contact with water or heat from sun. The stones can be levered off by placing the knife edge between a convex bevel provided at the end of the sharpener with an adjacent ledge used as the fulcrum.

So when one stone wears out you don't need to throw away the whole tool.
