Archery is a great healthy and safe sport but caution; don't dry fire a bow as this may damage bow parts, pull back a bow with the arrow on the string - check arrows for damage prior to use as splinters may risk physical harm - don't draw a compound without a release aid or grip it so that it is out of alignment drawing or firing as this may derail the string - use a bow stringer to attach and detach the bow string. Follow the simple guides and enjoy the freedom of archery.

GOOD PRODUCT CARE ADVICE:

For wearers in high abrasion places or wear rough gators, you can apply a bead of adhesive like well proven Shoe Goo over exposed sewing for extra abrasion protection.  This works. We have proven for you it to extend sewing life.

If leather has oil and wax on it then remove grease prior to application for better adherence.

Very warm water and a brush with a little liquid dish cleaner is ok. Then rinse well with clean warm water to remove residue soap. Meths swab can also remove wax and oil.

We have a full range of Mountval and Kaps gear care products at the lowest prices in NZ that won’t give you fear of application.  Made in Europe 100%

Leather in footwear has two different roles. Firmer supportive parts   and   softer supple flexible parts for walking movement.

Always walk in well-conditioned boots, not dry looking, un-supple feeling leather boots. Top up with leather conditioner on dry looking surfaces and apply extra over flexing parts if and when required until the leather feels supple.

  • Wash with clean water and brush off dirt. Don’t use detergents as they just strip out conditioners you spent good money on also they could be harmful types of detergent. We just want the surface clean. Soil minerals, blood, nitrate salts in animal waste has to be washed off regularly. They are really bad for boots. Remove insole and wash boot interior and insole with warm water and dry.
  • Allow time for drying of your footwear. Don’t expose to hot heat. Heat will certainly shrink the leather fibre causing the boot to be tight fitting and brittle fibres that crack when flexed later. Warm flowing air is best until surface is dry enough to absorb the conditioner. IN SHORT NEVER EVER DRY LEATHER WITH HOT HEAT. THIS WILL WRECK LEATHER BOOTS PERMANENTLY.
  • Then apply some conditioner such as no solvent dubbin (dubbin is the common name for bees wax with animal oil and fat) or no solvent bee wax (bee wax and tree nut oil) simply by your finger as the warmth helps them to absorb. Apply only to any surface spot that's a little tight during break-in and also creased looking parts that flex and bend when you walk. Limit to creasy and flexing areas as the oil in it reduces breathability and softens adhesive contact. Avoid spreading to glued on parts unless the crease reaches the part. Oil saturation can cause delamination over time with flexing. Melting dubbin to liquid then applied by finger for faster reconditioning. MINK OIL cream is the best conditioner we have found. It has omega 7.
  • New Zealand has a wet climate and this gradually strips conditioner from leather during flexing so an extra reserve of oil only in these parts is best. When leather flexes it acts like a sponge and flexing squeezes out the oil and needs replacing. If you are in water and then dry conditions more often then go with melted liquid dubbin.
  • Also the same for soft leather parts require extra conditioning due to its more porous spongy fibre structure. Be sure to condition under flaps and folds. Sometimes the tongue leather can squeak where it rubs together at the start for a new boot. High quality water resistant leather may do this as it’s slow to absorb the conditioner. Allow time for the leather to absorb conditioner.
  • Apply at your discretion when required. If surface looks dry it definitely needs some. Take a little with you on multi day adventures.
  • Our no solvent Beeswax does both conditioning and water repellency in one go. Mink oil dubbin has Omega 7 so both are ideal.
  • We recommend a tooth brush is good to spread wax as this reduces waste and can get into awkward places quickly and easily under lacing area folds and heel bend. Finger to help warm the Mink dubbin for flex parts.
  • Another option is a repellent liquid Mountval or Kaps Nubuk and Suede on leather and only put Mink on the flexing parts just to keep those parts conditioned. This combination is for the best leather breathability.
  • Condition footwear before storage and recondition before use if required as overtime moisture evaporates. Leather should feel supple.

One year limited manufacture warranty from purchase date.
This warranty covers substantial defects in materials and workmanship in your new product.

Warranty excludes any damage resulting from environment, wear and tear or neglect by the purchaser of the item/s.

Please understand that there is personal responsibility when you use any product. Damage that you cause is not covered. Manufacturing warranties cover manufacturer faults only.

Notice of any claim under the warranty must be received by the Supplier immediately at the time an issue occurs during that one year period. If you experience a problem with your Product, contact your Supplier

For the manufacturing warranty purposes you must provide your sales invoice for our accounting. No original sales invoice supplied from BOOTS & GEAR for evidence of the sale then no warranty. BOOTS & GEAR does not warranty products from other suppliers.

This warranty does not cover

a) Any problems which result from damage by negligence or accident or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Manufacturer

b) Product that has been repaired or altered by anyone other than manufacturer approved personnel

c) Product that has been improperly used or maintained or that has been subjected to abnormal conditions of use or maintenance not in conformity with the Manufacturer’s written instructions concerning use or maintenance

d) The components of any product subject to natural wear such as outsoles.
Limitation of liability: under no circumstances will the Manufacturer, the Supplier, or any affiliate of either of them be liable, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise (including based on negligence or strict liability), for any special, indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages of any kind. Without limiting any other provision hereof, the maximum liability for direct damages in respect of any Product shall not exceed the actual price paid to the Manufacturer or the Supplier for the Product. You are responsible for insuring that the use of any Product complies with all applicable laws and regulations, and with any applicable product specifications and documentation.

e) Professional hunting or pest control. For farming we cannot warranty rands for yard work or knife cuts. Nitrates and salts damage leather and cause cracking also sole damage. Solvents and chemicals also damage leather, adhesives and soles. These are not warranty covered faults of manufacturing.

These are examples and damages are not limited to these.

These issues are product expectations beyond what we can supply so we therefore have notified you in advance.

Follow leather care advice. In short practical terms never walk if the footwear leather is unconditioned and not supple is a rule. Walking in unconditioned leather will cause cracking and this is not covered by warranty at all.

You should keep your old pair of boots as back up. This will allow time for inspection of boots if an issue occurs and requires further inspection. Also it's a good idea for repairs beyond warranty time to have this spare pair for available use at this time. Take a picture of the issue immediately when it is noticed.

Abrasion by the wearer is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Make sure the boot fits properly and that laces are done up firmly and there is no heel lift and that gators are not rubbing on sewing. Both these are examples of footwear user caused abrasion. Damage caused by wear and tear by the user or from the environment is also not covered by the warranty and other uncalmable damages are not limited to these examples as there are many ways to damage footwear materials.

Immediately when you have a problem you must cease using the footwear and send the footwear to us for inspection. Continued use of the product will make the issue worse beyond repairable and void your warranty.

Repairs can be carried out on footwear in New Zealand. Lining, Sewing, Lacing elements, Adhesive and Resoling repairs are some examples. These repair examples do not require replacement of the footwear and further it is beneficial beyond the warranty time frame for your footwear longevity for these services to be available for product back-up.

Back up after warranty

For any manufacturing warranty covered problem/s and better boot longevity out of warranty we offer back up resoling which is done at BOOTS & GEAR in Taupo since 2006. We have resoled boots many repairers have refused to do however we have stopped repairing brands we don’t supply as construction varies and a couple of times after removing soles we discovered the different construction made resoling unfeasible. So now we only do our own selected boots.

If you have an out of warranty repair problem let us know so we can assist.

The coverage of the warranty lasts for one year after the date of purchase of your Product.

Follow the advice supplied with the footwear. Failure to do so may void warranty due to improper use.

Keep the sales invoice as this is used for the warranty for proof of sale.

Boots must be sent in cleaned prior or they may not be accepted for repair. A water and brush is fine. Don't use detergent. Water is fine.
